    Acccording to an article in AARP; a quote from Douglas P. Kiel MD (director of Musculoskeletal Research Center at the Institute for Aging Research in Boston).

    Power up with protein. [ That means to me good lean BEEF. Yes, there are other sources.] Protein not only provides muscle building nutrients but also provides Calcium which is so needed for strong bones. He said that when people ate less than 46 grams of protein per day there was 50% more the hip fractures. People were also to intake 1,200 mg calcium/per day and 600-800 IU of Vitamins. This is all a part of helping elders from having hip fractures.

    Dr Kiel is just one more person in research who has commented.

    An elderly lady from my church said that her Doctor told her to eat more red meat to boost her red blood cell count. I definitely agree lean beef helps reduce the chances for hip fractures, as I’ve witness in my own relatives.
